Paul McCartney had some great vocals, and I thought Chikeze did an absolutely great job. It's not easy to do what Paul does to a song, and C. had the best performance of the night. Not derivative, not imitating, just a great performance that lived up to the originals. I think, with the exception of Let it Be by Brooke, that it was the only one that was as good as it should have been. It's a great song book, Lennon-McCartney, and I think most of them should have put more time and effort into choosing a song and doing it justice. I did not think Come Together was good at all, I thought she was sleep walking through it. The 3rd best performance was Eleanor Rigby, which was actually a very good performance, also.
really lbell? you thought carly sleepwalked through "come together"? REALLY? wow! surprising, only because i thought she did such a bang-up job of it! i thought her vocals were the strongest of all the females, and in the brains of melissa, i pegged her as the strongest vocal of the evening. chikeze did come in a close second, and i will wholeheartedly agree with every word you wrote about him! right on - the part about it not being derivitive or imitating - i wish i'd written that, because it's right the fuck ON. 
I liked Carly's Come Together, but I thought that Chekezie walked away with it last night. Best performance I've seen on Idol in a LONG time.
OTOH, I thought the Eleanor Rigby was slurred and sluggish. But I also really don't like David Cook.
A few minor differences not worth mentioning except my boy David Hernandez. I agree it wasn't the best ever -- but I think they were a little harsh on his "over-enthusiasm." They usually encourage that kind of crap. It did have a bit of a Sanjaya-esq feel to it, maybe that's what set them off. I love me my David Hernandez though -- which is good because I wouldn't want to have to fight you for Jason Castro. I'm a cripple, and I'd lose.
Can't wait for 10pm so I can watch the whole results show in 4 minutes on fast forward. I'll go get me so Mic Ultra in the meantime.

faith, i am sorry to hear about your david hernandez love, especially now that he's no longer amongst the ranks of those still competing. wait... let me make it clear that i'm NOT sorry he's no longer competing, just sorry that you'll no longer get to enjoy his prancing about. i hear what you're sayin' about them encouraging the enthusiasm, but i think he went a tad over the line of "acceptable amount of giddy energy" and entered into Sanjaya-land, as you mentioned.
i still, glad to know you're not gonna fight me for jason castro... your name has officially been cross off of the "girls whose asses i am gonna have to kick so i can be the last woman standing and win the heart of jason castro through violence" list!
Hold on there missy, with David gone, I may have to take a run at you for Jason Castro. Cripple or no, I've got a fightin' kinda past.
Eh, as I posted on my own blog last night, I think the whole thing is fixed anyway. Jason's yours. But can I borrow him once in a while?
