I live in Oklahoma and we have the same problem with people stealing Obama signs. On the news the other night a family pulled up to their house and saw a black SUV sitting out fround while to kids were pulling the Obama signs out of the yard. The family followed the SUV and called the police. The police stopped the SUV and inside they found over 50 Obama signs.

Oh, I live in Oklahoma as well, and can assure you the same thing is happening to McCain signs in Oklahoma. I know of a good number of folks who have had McCain signs stolen and others who have had vandalism done to their vehicles. The madness goes both ways in Oklahoma.

The main reason I won't put a McCain sticker or sign out is because I'm in a heavy Obama neighborhood. I might as will paint a target on my house or car. It would suck if there's ever any riots.

I live in a heavily Democrat area and any cars with GOP or conservative bumperstickers are routinely vandalized, and the same type of signs are stolen.
The left are fascists.

Isn't there something wrong about allowing a child to deface private property? Zapping said child may not be the right thing either, but defense of one property is important.
I think this campaign has gone on woefully too long & is bringing out the worst in us. Though they've been saying that the one of 1800 was pretty bad also.

No, no, no! The fact that this election cycle is so long is to our benefit.
If we had only 6 weeks, we would never had been able to unearth all the dirt on Obama, as the media is doing its worst to cover up for him.
It also gives amateurs like Obama plenty of time to screw up, like he did with Joe the Plumber, as well as entertain us with Biden's gaffes (he is the gift that keeps on giving!).
Lastly, the long cycle has created Obama fatigue among his more lukewarm supporters and independents. His 30 minute infomercial has been called a bomb, and not as many as they expected watched it. People are tired of the overexposure of this "celebrity" candidate, and that is a good thing.

My McCain sign was stolen. My prolife signs are also stolen from my yard. People are offended that we have the temerity to have other views than theirs and so we must not be allowed to display our difference.
The 9-year old deserved it and a spanking from his parents. I wouldn't let my child run into the neighbor's yard and take anything.

It happens both ways; over on the Eastern Shore of Maryland the Obama signs put up along Route 50 were vandalized within two hours by either being chainsawed, or, in at least one case, the spray painting of turbans on the sign.

I have McCain signs on my property here in Walpole, NH! One day, I found one tossed into the drainage ditch on Wentworth Road that borders my property. I took the sign and moved it into a patch of poison ivy! If anyone trys to vandalize it, they will wind up in the ER with a case of poison ivy! If that person sues, I can charge them with trespassing!

We had all the McCain signs in the neighborhood stolen a couple of wks ago...but then we live in Memphis, so what do I expect? I went & bought another one & screwed it onto our front porch. While I was at it, I got another one for our neighbor who lives alone & is 89. When I gave it to her, she started crying.

This prof says sign stealing is "exhilarating & empowering"...boy, is this country in big trouble!

A Minnesota professor who admitted on the Huffington Post that he stole campaign signs for John McCain posted along the highway has resigned.
Phil Busse left his temporary post at St. Olaf College after the school learned of his Oct. 30 posting, "Confessions of a Lawn Sign Stealer," in which the visiting professor admitted to snatching signs from Highway 19 in southeast Minnesota, the Northfield News reported Monday.
"This summer and autumn it was speckled with McCain signs, their cobalt blue squarely set against the gold and red of fall foliage," he wrote on the Huffington Post. "By early October, however, there were no McCain-Palin campaign signs on the eastbound stretch of Highway 19. It wasn't because loyalties had switched, but because I pulled them out."
David Gonnerman, a spokesman for St. Olaf College, told the News that the school learned of Busse's actions on Friday.
"The administration made clear that Mr. Busse's actions were in direct conflict with the college's values and mission and that the college did not in any way condone them," Gonnerman said.
Busse was a visiting professor and taught one class at the college, introductory media studies. He was charged with misdemeanor theft after he told Rice County law enforcement that he took three yard signs, the News reported.
In his blog post, Busse said "yanking out the signs and running like a scared rabbit back to my idling car was one of the single-most exhilarating and empowering political acts that I have ever done."
He faces up to 90 days in jail and or a $1,000 fine, the paper said
