I had thought Prada had donated the infamous red shoes. Kind of a pity, but just as well. How does this stuff get started?
In fact I saw a nice clip of the Pope's cobbler on Rome Reports a few months ago, he was comparing Benedict's shoes to the more perambulatory John Paul's.
I love how Papa BXVI has brought back some of the traditional Papal attire (ie, the short capelike "mozzetta" (sp?)-which he wears oh so well.) Some may think that this is too showy but I love the symbolism of the differnet clothing, especially the red shoes.
Besides, the Holy Father is as human as we are and needs to keep warm or cold, so why not dress in heavier brocade or lighter silk? Needless to say movie or music celebs aren't nearly as practical.
