It's not "pink," kind sir. It's "rose."
To make rose, I think that they combine red and white (making pink) and then add a third color (green?) to make the pink start to trend toward brown. Voila -- rose.

Thanks for the (charitable) correction, Anusi - you are, of course, correct.
I was thinking that "pink" would entice more people to click through their RSS feed, however. ;)

Actually, the color we see in front of us is pink! It should be rose, but ask anyone (who's not color blind) what color that chasuble is, and he'll say, "Pink." Rose-colored vestments should be just that: the color of roses.
I'm afraid that most vestment makers have no idea what the color rose is, and have made pink vestments for years now. I've only seen one actual rose-colored set of vestments in my life. Even the best parishes settle for pink, as that's all the vestment makers sell.

The real interesting thing here is his pallium. It doesn't have red crosses any more. They are quite clearly black now.

Dear Thomas,
Please be careful with your spelling of my "handle." It has two n's! (It's short for "An Unworthy Sinner.")
Dear Arvin,
I beg to differ with you.
You wrote: "Rose-colored vestments should be just that: the color of roses."
This is not really a helpful statement, because roses come in a very large number of colors, ranging from white through various yellows and oranges, through various pinks and reds, through various violets almost to black.
To see this illustrated, please go to an amazing Internet page that I just found: http://www.rosefile.com/
RosePage...sOfTheRose.html
The above page shows that what people call "rose" (as a color) is one of the darker shades of pink, which apparently has a bit of a blue or green hue blended in with white and red. I think that the pope's vestment qualifies as "rose," though I agree with you that it could have been a darker/browner shade of pink than it is.

That's a shame, because I have seen truly rose-colored vestments almost every year, in various parishes.

At least the line "Pope in Pink" plays the alliteration card quite well.
