He has been invited to the Eucharistic Congress in Quebec City in 2008 by his good frined Cardinal Ouellete. Apparently, from what I've heard, the chances of him going are pretty good, though it's too early to have a response from the Vatican.

Small update:
The trip to Bavaria is in September 2006 and is already confirmed (hey, they even got the German police to close a highway for a day, no samll feat that is). It's from 09/09 till 09/14 and will go to Munich (big public mass on 09/10), Regensburg, Altoetting (Marian Shrine) and Freising (Seat of the Archbishop of Munich and a Shrine of St.Korbinian)
In case you can read German, just google the websites of the Dioceses of Munich and Regensburg, they have all the info about this

Err, I've got to agree with Sue ... the source article you linked to also says that everything seems well under way for the Pope's trip to Poland.
I wish to heaven he'd come to the Philippines, where I live. I can tell y'all right now that the crowds in Cologne will be dwarfed by the reception he'll get in Manila. Remember WYD 1995? I was in that crowd, and I tell you, a sardine can would feel like a ballroom compared to the experience of being in that crowd. We Filipinos love our Holy Fathers! :)
