I preface my comments with I am a cat person, and I am not strange!
My official profession is an itinerant teacher of the hearing-impaired which means I travel to fifteen different campuses throughout the week, working with seventeen students, all ranging in ages from 5 to 20. They all have different needs which I must fulfill, but they all have one thing in common. Strangely enough, Cyclops Kitty here has it too.
If you consider for just one instant that some of the children who I serve are born with hearing-impairment due to alcohol abuse, drug abuse, or an illnesses caught during pregnancy, then you might consider the fact that they made it into this world truly remarkable. Those mothers knew that it was entirely possible their babies might be born with challenges, and yet, they all made the decision to have their children. Mothers of these children realized the truth behind an old metaphorical story a professor of mine said once in college:
Upon finding out she is pregnant, a mother will dream and fantasize about what life will be like with her newborn. She, in essence, plans for a trip to France since, of course, France is tremendously romantic, gorgeous, and full of rich, inviting history. However, when her baby is born with a hearing-impairment (or any other challenge for that matter), she finds out that the plane she took nine months prior didn't land in France, but rather, in Holland instead. It takes some time, but eventually, the mother will learn that even though Holland is not like France, it still is beautiful, rich, and vibrant in its own way.
For the mother of this cat to have its kitten, even though it was different than the others, is proof that having children, regardless of their prenatal care diagnosis, is the correct decision. God is the only one with the authority to prescribe both life and death, and we, His creatures, but follow and obey.

There is a malformation in humans known as "holoprosencephaly" which results in a constellation of midline facial abnormalities which are almost always fatal. These include a single, fused eye, a tube-like nose (proboscis), and brain malformations. I wonder if this is the feline version.
In any case, this is yet another time that I wish fundamentalist types would just stop talking. They are the anti-evangelists.
