Gravatar "I think the results speak for themselves."

Yes, but the results don't say anything meaningful. A poll at a blog is next to meaningless. The Catholic Church does not operate on democratic principles (e.g., one man, one vote) to make disciplinary decisions. No vote of Catholics (even a worldwide vote) could pressure the pope into doing something.

The pope will do what he judges to be BEST for the spiritual life of the Church, without paying any attention to polls. I think that he knows that a "universal indult" is not the BEST option.

Gravatar John, first, "the results speak for themselves" simply means that MOST people who took the time to vote are in favor of a universal indult - that's all.

does the majority determine choices in the Church? of course not! that's basic ecclesiology, everyone who reads this blog regularly knows that.

finally, what do you base your claim that Benedict "knows" that a universal indult is not the best option upon? anything?
