Gravatar Anyone of these potential candidates who any deep seated attachment to a romantic relationship have no busy even considering the priesthood.

Gravatar Rouse's post is hampered by typos, but it's kinda hard to guess what s/he could means and still have it be right.

Gravatar The tv guide that comes in our Sunday paper had all the previous episodes of "God or the Girl" listed for Friday night. I was looking forward to watching it since I only saw a few minutes the previous Sunday. But instead of "God or the Girl" it was "American Justice". I was bummed. Then I watched the final episode of "God or the Girl" on Sunday, which summarized all the episodes. I wasn't so bummed anymore. I got the basics of what happened without wasting all that time watching the extra reality tv crap. In the end, it was ok, predictable. But I appreciated the positive light in which it portrayed the Catholic Church. Especially the young man who decided to apply to the seminary. Also I really like the little video segment showing a priest putting on his vestments. It was almost reverent.

Gravatar I liked it. I was pretty sure that Steve was gonna make it because of the huge sacrifice that he made. But I thought that it could have been a little deeper, but it's of course just a reality TV show, which don't always portray reality as it really is. (Does that make sense?). If the others had expressed their thoughts more, it would have been deeper.

Gravatar I liked it. It did a good job of protraying some very real young men going through a process that many of my male friends have gone through (albeit accelerated somewhat by the show's deadline). I still think it would be more interesting if it was done with 4th year seminarians - now there are guys with some real discernment in front of them - but for what it was, it was respectful and positive.

Gravatar I always want to post a comment, then end up writing a novel.

I'll just say this:
Some things irked me, but overall I liked it. The talk it has inevitably brought up about the Church is very good. I pray for Steve because he reminds me a lot of myself and I think he'll make a good priest, God-willing.

Gravatar Rouse is correct. Any candidate discerning the priesthood must not be engaged in any "deep seated" relationship. I can't say I agree with the title of the show either, choosing between the glorious purity of celibacy and some insignificant girlfriend? This makes the priesthood seem like a real drag, rather than a gift, and a divine calling that can truly provide a most fulfilling life. This show made many people cheer for the men who did not choose the priesthood. Not what the church needs right now.
