Gravatar Dissenters in the Church don't need blogs...they have tenure.

Seriously, I think you don't see more left-dissenting blogs b/c the Left-Dissenters have cornered the market on the traditional means of access to the hearts and minds of the faithful: pulpits, classrooms, newspapers, publishing houses, etc.

I'm really surprised at how few priests publish their homilies online.

Fr. Philip, OP

Gravatar Amy has a post right now with links to other priests who publish their homilies online (and includes you):

Of course, the others aren't Dominicans. ;)

Gravatar "Of course, the others aren't Dominicans."

And that is the difference that makes the difference, of course! ;-)

(My podcasting site changed their site design in such a way that I can't use it. So, I'm no longer among the Podcasting Priests. Sigh.)

Gravatar You might be interested to know that the bishop of Fort Worth has appointed a married former-Episcopalian as the chancellor of the diocese. We currently have 4 of these men serving the diocese and there are 2 more in process. My own pastor (excuse me: the "priest-in-charge") of my parish is one of those men. I know 2 more of them through having been in their Anglican Use parishes. Finer priests you will not find.

Gravatar Thanks for your good post, Thomas. I added my own little response to the silly RNS article. I guess the guy had a deadline, needed to reach a word limit, and gave into the Google temptation. A whole lot easier than interviews.

Gravatar Reverend Father Jim,

As an avid reader of Catholic blogs, and an admirer of yours, I hope that this irresponsible article by the Washington Post won't put you in any trouble with the hierarchy of our Church.

Anyone who takes five minutes to read your blog knows that you are no dissenter, and it is completely absurd that the Washington Post, a giant of the mass media, publishes a story naming you as a dissenter without even trying to speak with you first. This is shameful journalism!

Gravatar Ken,

Fr. Hawkins has graciously invited me to be the guest preacher at St Mary the Virgin on the Feast of the Assumption this year. I accepted, of course!

Fr. Philip

Gravatar Oh gee. Yet another reason for me to never bother to buy a copy of the Washington Post again. What a shabby job. I hope this doesn't cause trouble for Fr. Tucker. I enjoy reading his blog.

Gravatar No problem, Fr. Jim. These folks need a little swat on the nose once in awhile to stop this silliness. It's not even decent journalism, let alone objective or fair.

Gravatar Well, Fr. Powell, if I don't get to meet you out at UD before Assumption, I'll meet you at St. Mary's when you come to preach.

Who knows, I might even get scheduled to serve that Mass.
