Pro-abortion Catholics? What is that, a new sect?
What next: a pro-religion, pro-fee-market, pro-democracy Communist.

Some Catholic politicians probably don't believe in the Real Presence anyway. If you really believe in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ's Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, then you know that you should not be in mortal sin to receive Communion.

I have a question which I hope someone can answer. Here in the Philippines, abortion is considered so grave a sin that only a bishop can give absolution. What is the practice in the United States and Australia? Obviously in the US and Australia (and Western Europe?) it must be different, if in some dioceses pro-abortion politicians are allowed to receive Holy communion.

I think the policy is the same in the US. It's simply not enforced at all because the bishops are too liberal, or too weak to defend the unborn.
Which means that in the end, they will face the same judgement as those poor politicians.

The Cardinal is right, as usual. If they cannot conform with the Church, they must drop the label 'Catholic'.

You might wonder what he would say about Condi Rice coming to speak at his local Catholic university.
