Gravatar Well, I'm definitely not surprised that the Brits said that! (;

Gravatar Me too Laura !
I'm french and of course i'm "unfriendly", then why there is so many English people who came in france ?? ...
If the French have been voted the world's most unfriendly nation, then the english are the world' most nonsense nation. ;-) It was a joke, of course !
Sure, we have to make some efforts to be more friendly but it is such a pleasure to annoy our dear neighbors... Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea MAXIMA culpa ! Always joking !

Gravatar From my experience just the Parisians were that way. Out in the country, the French were cool.
But that is just my personal experience.

Gravatar I have a most generous friend living in Paris, who opened up his flat to me during a recent European pilgrimage. I'm just sayin...

Gravatar Well of course the limeys said that! Bah!

Gravatar It would seem that the Brits have never met that most dicpicable class of people on the face of the earth; American journalists

Gravatar A friend of mine from Switzerland said that the worst, most rowdy people on holiday (vacation) are the Brits! LOL.

Gravatar I found the Parisians that way for sure! And I am Australian - generally we get along with everyone. Not only that but when I have been in England visiting some of the big Cathedrals I have been shocked at the behavior of french school children there.

Bec

Gravatar I wish to begin by stating that I am one-quarter French, and speak the language. Now I would like, in the spirit of lighthearted English-French rivalry (and the rest of me is very, very Irish, so I am betraying no bias here), to repeat three priceless (and very deliberate) pronouncements from _Blackadder_ (which, as you may know, is the ultimate _English_ comedy):
"He's about as likely to move as a Frenchman living next to a brothel."
"I'm as happy as a Frenchman who's invented a pair of self-removing trousers."
"[Groan] What did I do last night? My head feels like there's a Frenchman living in it."

As a Renaissance scholar I can tell you that this may not be the nicest tradition, but it's a long one! :-D
