May I just insert my opinion that Bishop Fisher is a DUDE and I can't think of anyone better to be organising WYD2008!

Just my two cents worth........

(actually it should be five cents since that is now the lowest coin available in Australia - there are no one cents left).

Rocco is way off the mark when he says:

What rubbish! Does wanting to attend Solemn Vespers mean you are old! No way! Vespers is a solemn liturgy of the Roman Rite and embraced by all ages -- hence youth.

But don't expect WYD 2008 to be especially conservative in a liturgical sense. The guy second in-charge is a great guy, spot on the money when it comes to youth and education, but a charasmatic himself.

But the youth of Australia will make the call at the end of the day and they will barrack for Vespers and liturgy of a more traditional kind -- I guarentee.

Example: There will be morning and evening Vespers at the Annual National Catholic Students Conference this year with Saturday night's being presided over by the Archbishop. There will also be Charasmatic Praise and Worship, but the overwhelming majority of attendees will rather attend vespers. This conference attracts over 200 students from around the vast country Australia and Mass will be celebrated Novus Ordo Ad Orientem with out many complaints at all.
