The last line in the story you linked tospeaks of the divided Catholic Church in China; is that misleading or in error? Isn't the 'underground' Church the Catholic Church And the 'official' church something else?

Dim Bulb;
You are correct. The 'official' church in China can hardly be spoken of as Catholic. Plus, a divided Catholic Church in China is much different than saying the Catholic Church is divided. "In China" tells us that this is the broad perspective in China and not a world view that the Church is divided (a much more biased and far reaching claim). We know what the real Church.
All in all, though, I thought the article was fair - from my popular news piece reading history, I saw many opportunities within that story where the Holy See could have been portrayed more in a negative light and wasn't.
Of course, it would have been good to point out the actual numbers of followers of the underground Church (the majority) vs. the state-sanctioned church but I'll take what I can get. It's better than usual.
