I have not read the Ratzinger book... "The Life You Save..." is one of your sidebar summer reads, by Paul Elie. The link to Amazon you posted on June 30th.

As a Merton and Percy fan, I loved Elie's book. It also gave me my first good look at Dorothy Day. He does a good job packaging the four together.
