I'd love to see the train of thought that resulted in this lovely conclusion. Sheesh.

Yeah, it worked so well for Sinead O'Connor, why not let's do that too?

Well, as far as this madonna is concerned, her name does rhyme with marrana.
How much more hypocritical can this woman be. There was an article in a magazine some time back, I believe it was Rolling Stone, in which she said that living in England to raise her children was better because American culture was so bad. I remember thinking how ridiculous her statements were. She was lamenting the negativity of a culture she helped create!

I don't see what she gets from doing this stuff... Aside from publicity that is. Seems as though she has to knock the church in order to feel justified.

Madonna has been acting out and rebelling against the Church publicly for almost 25 years. That's how long she's been famous and that's how long she's been behaving like an unruly school girl with the maturity level of a 13 year old. Why then do Catholics CONTINUE to give her what she craves--attention--when she does these stupid and idiotic things?? Guaranteed, if everyone ignored her when she behaves like this she would NOT repeat the behavior.

Oh sure, Papa Benedict would go watch Madonna's crucifixtion, as long as he can bring the nails and the hammer to be sure it's done right!
This woman has got to have the biggest case of Chutzpah in the business! It's a wonder she did not ask to do it at Auschwitz--or did I just give her an idea?

Miss B -
Interesting you say 13-year-old. I watched a VH-1 special once where she commented that her dance teacher had taken her to a gay bar in Detroit at the age of 14.
Would explain a lot of it's true.

Chris, I remember hearing Madonna say that in an interview once, too. I don't like the woman, but to be honest, she's really had a lot of bad influences and bad experiences. She was apparently sexually assaulted when she first arrived in NY as a 19 year old. When her mother died of cancer (Madonna was 6 and no one ever even told her her mother was sick) the children were forbidden to ask questions and it was NEVER discussed, not once. This was apparently an extremely traumatic event for Madonna more than for her brothers and sisters. On top of all this the father was strict beyond a reasonable need which, for children with personalities like Madonna's, only serves to make them angry and rebellious. I seriously doubt Madonna ever heard the words "God loves you" her entire childhood, nor ever had one single question answered about her religion. She was always told "Don't ask questions, just follow the rules". It was all just go to Mass, mind your manners, stay away from boys, do good in school, don't wear short skirts, don't embarass the family. You can bet that there is a deep-seated wounding that causes her to continue to try to offend the Catholic Church even when she keeps saying over and over she has no use for this religion and that Kaballah gives her all the tools she needs and has inspired her to be a much better person. Madonna is one confused woman. I feel sorry for her. Only a return to the faith of her childhood will make her truly happy and capable of really changing her life. If she really wants to create a scandal and shock everyone, she should revert!

Indeed, a sincere reversion would be the real shocker. Everyone knows she is doing shock for the sake of shock. Which is not shocking at all...
And why, for crying out loud, does she think it is daring to attack the Church? The Church never sues for libel or slander or for making "trade secrets" public.
But say one bad word about Scientology, and an army of lawyers and hackers shall descend upon thee.

Madonna does what she does for money and celebrity. She's cried the 'poor baby' thing about rape and abuse. So has half of Hollywood. Remember Rosanne?
Where our conscience, as Catholics, is, is not to pay for her, in any way, buy her music, go to her concerts, movies, etc. You can be in a state of excommunication without it being made public, you know. You can pretty much excommunicate yourself.
Why do they hit the Catholic Church? Ask yourself, who is Satan the most afraid of, the church of Scientology? He's already won there.

Why is it that that the media will create a frenzy when someone speaks negatively of Judaism or Islam but will dumb down blatent attacks on Christianity?
