Gravatar If they truely wanted to serve Christ (and if this wasn't an ego thing) they could become nuns.

Gravatar They don't want to serve the Church. They want to serve themselves. At least they could go get a BA and MA in theology and make a claim they're qualified to be priests. These women have nothing other than their "feelings".

Gravatar Actually, I read somewhere that this cannon cannot apply to women. Since there is no such thing as a woman priest that it would be impossible to dupe the faithful into believing that it was a real mass. In other words it would be so manifest that it was not a real Eucharist that it would not even constitute "simulation".

I will see if I can find the reference.

Gravatar While Jason is looking for that reference, others might want to consider this from the GB&I Comm, 794: "The offence involved here is that of a lay man or woman, or even a deacon, who goes through the rites prescribed for the Mass in an attempt to celebrate the Eucharist, whether publicly or in private." See also CLSA Comm 924-925 and CLSA New Comm 1586.

Gravatar Remember in the "old" Roman Rite, where we would say: "Kyrie Eleison, Kyrie Eleison, Kyrie Eleison. Christe Eleison, Christe Eleison, Christe Eleison. Kyrie Eleison, Kryrie Eleison, Kyrie Eleison"? I think it was a mistake to drop the repetition. How can we ever beg for mercy enough?
