Wow, after seeing that picture Im starving. :)

That reminds me, in Rome during the consistory this year, we made cappuccino our official drink.

Can you tell were were with the Cardinal O'Malley group.

Just wondering if there's any significance to the fact that the thing is made with English muffin, Canadian bacon (i.e., ham), and Holland-aise sauce?

Why not have it with a side of French fries and some Irish coffee (or maybe Turkish...)?

Gravatar "... sounds like great after-Mass brunch fair, yes?"

No.

"Fare," yes!

Gravatar I heard that BXVI actually created an egg dish and wanted to name it after himself. After finding out that there was already an eggs benedict, His Holiness wanted to chance his name to Pope Huevos Rancheros...

*rim shot*

Gravatar And here I always thought it was named after Mrs. Arnold's little boy: How do you want your eggs, Benedict? Oh well!

Gravatar Groan!

I do like Eggs Benedict AND Benedict XVI, though, and do think after-Mass brunch is a good idea.

I'm hungry.

Gravatar perhaps a more authentic Eggs Benedict XVI could be made with a slice of (authentic) weinerschnitzel on a hearty slice of dark rye, topped with a poached egg and a little hollandaise (maybe even doctored up a bit with a dash of dark beer).

Hmmm, I may have to experiment a bit here...

Gravatar Shortly after HH's election, I created my own version of Eggs Benedict XVI, consisting of a slice of black bread spread with Bavarian mustard, some Weisswurst, a poached egg (although to be truly Bavarian fried would be more appropriate) and Bavarian mustard sauce, washed down with a bottle of Premium Bavaricum Weissbier. Very, very substantial.
