The Pope in Bavaria is wonderful. Bavarian radio, (Bayrischer Rundfunk) has great live coverage of the main events. Das Volk is very welcoming,even if a lot of them don't seem interested in the Catholic faith as of yet.

In Munich, he explained why the peoples of Africa and Asia feel so threatened by the West and what the remedy is. These countries admire our technical abilities, but feel threatened by a rationality which we are trying to teach them and impose on them which ignores the existence of God and has contempt for the holy. Today in Altoetting, he showed us the answer, too, in his veneration of the Schwarze Madonna and of the Most Blessed Sacrament, reposed on a stone taken from the rubble of the Mariensaeule (Column of Mary)in Munich after the bombing of World War II.
For us in the U.S.remembering Sept. 11, it is clear that we need to repent and begin to quit ignoring God and to have reverence for the holy.
