Yes, submission will conquer Rome. Right.
It's a pity that lady wanted to hide her face. Not because I'm advocating some sort of retaliation - God forbid - but, you know, if you believe something enough to wave a placard about in front of the UK's mother church, why not show your face too?
Oh well. Prayers prayers prayers. Not least for some deep breaths, clear thinking and common sense. Oh, and some reading comprehension skills.

Looks like a generic sign to me....The word "Conquer" seems like it could readily be replaced by other Pre-printed words of kindness like - LOVE, WORSHIP ALONGSIDE, KILL, MUTILATE, ETC.

Should we tell them they protested in front of a Protestant church?

Here is my struggle. In spite of all the anger, frustration, irony, and injustice over the Muslim response to the Pope's remarks, 'How do I respond without hate?'.I am praying for God's grace.

Catholicgauze: Westminster Cathedral in London, where these protests took place is most certainly not a "Protestant church". It is the seat of the Archbishop of Westminster, Cormac Cardinal Murphy O'Conner and the spiritual centre of English Catholicism.
I fear you were thinking (perhaps) of Westminster Abbey, which is now indeed Anglican and thus, "Protestant".
That ancient church erected by St Edward the Confessor to the honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter was once a (Catholic) Benedictine abbey, the 'minster' west of the city of London that gave the area its name.

All the hate here is so silly. Has anyone seen the cartoon drawn up about Pope Benedict and Pope JPII by the Islamic people? I do not agree with it, sut does that mean the answer is hate. Hate is never the answer we should take time instead to pray for others and how they have wronged us.

So long as The Church remains the Bride of Christ, Islam will not even wound Her let alone conquer her! Silly Muslims the Church is for Christ!

Now through the centruies thousands have said these exact words. One thing is common to all of them, they are dead and Rome is still there. I think the world has forgotten a lot of history.

They may well do what the sign says (Islam will conquer Rome)but they will never pull off what the sign means (Islam will conquer Catholicism). No amount of violence can trump divine promises.

When I hear threats against Christianity, against Rome, I think about what Jesus said."My kingdom is not of this world." Christianity has been threatened in the past. It was threatened by Jewish Pharisees and we know what happened to Paul. It was threatened by Roman leaders and barbarians. It was threatened by internal schisms. Through it all, The Church has prevailed. The question we need to ask ourselves, "Is my hope in the world, or is my hope in Christ?"
