This is a very good point, and although the language of The Pope's "apology" is quite plain, the inability of many readers in Mussulmania and Christendom alike to read the words for what they mean bring to bear a question regarding the literacy and ability to think rationally of said populace.
It is no small wonder that mass hysteria prevails when headlines concentrate and distort meaning towards a reading public incapable of an attention span greater than a 15 second sound-bite.

I think you give those who misrepresent and distort the Holy Father little credit. They do so for their own purposes. CNN for example is right at home fanning flames.
The gall of this news service asking others online if Pope is fanning fires when CNN with its sham of 'media neutrality' is the one "fanning fires" in repeatedly bringing up the story always out-of-context. What lack of responsible by CNN handlers.
CNN is extremely anti-catholic and I have no doubts now as I see it bring on Muslim pundits to talk on this taken out of context speech when less than 24 hours earlier CNN wages war on muslim terrorists in its broadcasts.
I had to laugh when I saw Paula Zahn chumming up to a Muslim intellectual on her show. It is just outrageous how this corporation conducts itself with a total disregard for honesty, they couldn't even wait for translated transcripts before breaking the story once again totally out of context.
Lastly doesn't the current violence of the Muslim world toward Catholics only prove the point originally made by the 14th century Eastern Emperior (most likely orthodox) quoted by Benedict XVI. If anything Muslims are the ones who should hang their heads low, the lack of emotional control by their irrational numbers under the influence of irresponsible news agencies (CNN, al jazer etc) are the real criminals and of course there is the christian-zionist political movements which are just lapping this up.
