My honest guess is 'irresponsible speculation' - but then, that's speculative... ;-)

Malicious fabrication. Even elements of the Turkish government are showing this extremist reaction to Regenburg. I'm pessimistic, too.

Absolutely made your point....I watch news on several channels daily here in the States and NEVER heard one word about this hijacking on any news channel....but then they are so busy advertising for their next "indepth" coverage on an evening "news" format or their websites that we barely get 15 minutes of what passes for news...more like liberally opinionated minimal information. Noone reports just the facts anymore...everything has to have a "spin" to fit a personal agenda.
With this horrible shooting in Pennsylvania one could just hear the media pining for some followup to the story other than the obvious fact that the perpetrator had killed himself so there was noone left to blame. They find it curious and confusing that the Amish families are forgiving him, and grieving privately with great dignity. Its a sad fact for the media that sometimes one has to leave the "justice" to God. Of course they can't/won't say that so they continue to try to intrude on the community's privacy with interviews and pictures.

I am also concerned with how the media constantly tries to find safe punching bags and then cancel all other investigative reporting.
A good example of this would be the constant Dateline "To Catch a Predator" reports on NBC that really amount to nothing more than a slightly less dignified version of Cops.
It is not that I feel sorry for the perverts they catch. And that is exactly my point. There is really nothing courageous about finding the most reprehensible low-lifes that no one would bother to defend and put a camera in their faces for two hours.
But what about the rich and powerful people who are making money off these websites? What about the systems and people who turn blind eyes to what comes through their servers? Where is the blame for the pornographers or the organized crime that sells sex slaves online?
We don't have such reporting because the media is nothing but a bunch of opportunistic and spineless freaks. They care about their hairstyles more than they do about protecting our democracy by exercising their right of free speech. The reporters who do the news nowadays do not DO anything but regurgitate the same stale ideas over and over.
I wish I was a TV producer because I would make a real news show that would blow the lid off everything.
Too bad EWTN can't have its own 60 Minutes-style news show...
