Man, what I wouldn't give to witness that meeting . . . this is wonderful.
Now, I have to tell something very funny, with NO disrespect intended to the Dalai Lama. It is illegal in Tibet to sport images of this holy man, apparently (I don't know if the Chinese themselves really care, but Tibetans do, very much). A young American found himself under arrest for having committed this very offence. How had he done so? Well, he was wearing a t-shirt with an image of the Dalai Lama on it, according to authorities. After some time and effort, the arrested man and his companions managed to persuade the Tibetan police that the person depicted on the t-shirt was not the Dalai Lama but was, in fact, the late American comedian Phil Silvers.
I'm not making this up, as Dave Barry would say.
