This is going to affect the spending of those who notice the bills. To spend something with an image of blessed John Paul so Great means you'd better use it on something worthwhile. The truly devout will spend it in Vatican City, or at least in Rome (at those pious tourist trap ripoff-stands anyway), buying cheapjack images of saints and the Pope. Wouldn't everyone win, that way?

They're beautiful!!! Must look for some...
For anyone who does not know, the Vatican also issues its own stamps, coins etc... They too are often lovely things.
I might add, the top note bears that touching moment when the newly-installed Pope John Paul II rose to greet his mentor Cardinal Wyzynsky...
