Dang. Don't know what to make of that...did they just use him to make a point or did he simply drop the ball on this one? Either way, he should have read the proposal before he pitched for it.

Didn't even read it. Hollywood types make me sick. Why can't people see, they ARE JUST ACTORS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

I just looked again at the video. Where did Fox mention the proposed amendment?

hmmm... I wish there were ads here in Australia. Our Senate Committee has just recommended it and a vote expetected within the next two months in both Houses of Parliament.
We'll see how it goes. But going on recent moral/ethical votes it doesn't look good at all. But the PrimeMinister is on side.

Indeed he is. Hopefully he'll be able to persuade more of his Coalition collegues to side with right than he did in the RU486 debate. Here's an important website for Australians that might want to add their voice to those opposing the Bill:

The most telling part is that if M.J. Fox didn't have the disease he has, he probably wouldn't care one way or the other on the subject.
It's sad that with the circumstances that have sparked his interest, he has been deceived and is on the wrong side of the issue.

To be fair to Mr. Fox, he didn't pitch for the amendment; his ad was endorsing the Senate candidate in Missouri. (I think he should read the amendment.)

To think that these "excess" embryos are not any more than trash makes one wonder if in-vitro should be out-lawed for the very reason it causes the overpopulation of frozen embryos.
Would he want some of the gold teeth pulled from the Holocaust victims implanted in his mouth. They were considered trash, but left behind "useable" material.

Whoa.
But of course ABC titled the article, "Michael J. Fox Fires Back at Critics." *rolls eyes*

peder and fr fox are right, the hollywoody doesn't mention the amendment. I wonder though whether the senate race and the amendment are so linked up in people's minds that supporting one implies the basic certainty of supporting the other. dunno.

I am really sick of the way this issue is being framed in the dinosaur media with the "poor little Mikey Fox" vs "big old meanie conservatives".
Makes me sick. The day popularity polls of MJFox and Rush Limbaugh decide whether or not something as Satanic as human cloning is "right" is the day I move to the a better life on the moon.

Elizabeth,
Unfortunately, we are already using the "gold teeth" or lampshades in the sense that our federal government is funding ebryonic stem cell research for those lines that were in existence prior to 2001. In fact, the man who was president at the time--and still is--ran in 2004 as the first president to federally fund embryonic stem cell research. It's too bad most Catholics don't know this. The door to embryonic stem cell research--to the lampshades and human soap if you will--has already been opened. As the US Bishops said at the time, his opening was the beginning of a slippery slide.

You're right, Ed. One hollywoody doesn't mention the amendment. The other hollywoodies do however. Maybe that's why the issues have been so confused in this discussion. Hollywoodies tend not to be very helpful in political debates--especially when they speak in Aramaic! lol.
