At the most, he botched saying the joke - no one botched hearing him. Besides, saying "it was a joke" is a convenient way of covering yourself.

It seems that Kerry has never even considered THIS: Let's say he did run for President and even win. He would then be President of ALL Americans, not just those that voted for him. Thus, his disgusting comment about Republicans being "assorted right-wing nut-jobs" means he has just vilified and insulted at least HALF of the Americans he--as hypothetical President--has sworn to serve! People like him who have the audacity to make public statements like this don't seem to really care about, or even LIKE, most Americans. They see those that think as they do as the only Americans who count. The rest of us can just go to hell. I am really, really scared of the idea of a man like this becoming President.
