Gravatar The OPs have really begun to "reform" earlier than the other orders in the world. Most of the priests and brothers from their lates 30s down are rather orthodox and have traditional leanings and loves. Sadly many of these are beign held back by their superiors here is Australia who are very much of the 1970s brigade.

Gravatar I was disappointed that Fr. Austriaco
remained mute thru most of the discussion period and the others on the panel gave the "Catholic" view on ESC research.

Gravatar E, do you have the slightest basis for implying that Fr. A "owed" us a speaking-out on this topic at this time? I mean the question sincerely.

Gravatar Perhaps Fr. Austriaco saw it best not to engage in a debate rather to lay the foundation of truth for the forum. He was esentially the keynote speaker. He's a gifted scientist and one awesome hound of the Lord.

If you noticed Dr. Hurlbut was also fairly subdued.

Gravatar By the way Thomas, you'd make for a great hound yourself! Ever thought of pursuing the Dominican life?

Gravatar "Most of the priests and brothers from their lates 30s down are rather orthodox and have traditional leanings and loves."

Please pray that this becomes the norm for all Dominicans!

Also, as a 42 year old Dominican of considerable orthodoxy, let's not overlook those of us who are well beyond their 30's but have managed to escape the destruction of the faith that our older brothers brought on us. Living day to day in the Order, I can say with authority that the generational divide is very real though the lines are drawn rather haphazardly sometimes. The Eastern friars are doing an amazing job in recovering and maintaining the OP tradition of intellectual inquiry and faithful obedience to the magisterium. Again, please pray that this revolutionary attitude becomes contagious.

Fr. Philip, OP
