Gravatar Gee, you think they could mock the Eucharist any more!

If they want to be woman-priestesses so bad they should become Episcopalians. They take anyone as a priest. Heck, you don't even have to be a Christian to be a priest in the Episcopal "Church."

Gravatar Too bad there's no cheese to go with that whine!

Gravatar You don't even have to be Christian to be a bishop. Look at Spong.

Gravatar AmericanPapist might not remember this, but some years ago he joined a counter-protest march at a USSCB meeting in San Diego. A few of us heard that protesters were gonna picket the bishops, and some of us were tired of the radicals getting all the free press, so several of us with families organized a counter march, with yours truly leading the way under a giant papal flag. The opposition saw us comign up the hill and --i kid you not-- they took off for a nearby secluded parking lot. When the press arrived, we were the only unes they could find, and for a change we all got some nice air time about supporting bishops and Church teaching etc.

Gravatar Ed, what a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing. I'm surprised though, because I have been led to believe by our vaunted press that liberals were tough and always ready to fight. Tom

Gravatar You know me, I'm a sharing kindof guy.

btw, I'm suprised no one has commented on the Fire from Heaven being called down on this charade; it's clearly visible in the photo, headed right for them.

Gravatar Hi Ed:

BTW have you any pics of the young Thomas protesting? :)

Anyway, I did see the "fire" but I'm afraid these women might see it as a sign of the Holy Spirit to give them credence to what they are doing.

Gravatar kim, his mom would know. i'm just a dad. i'm not even sure of all their b-days.

Gravatar Note the golden glow just over the one woman's head: is that St. Michael coming to smite her on the head for being a dope?

Gravatar Nice try at getting out of that one ed. :)

Hey, did anyone notice that these women have ashes on their foreheads? I noticed it first in the woman in the first picture, then I noticed it on the woman eating the cracker.

Gravatar A counter-protest, you say? Where are the TFP brigades when you need them?

Gravatar Solutions for these misguided women:
*Excommunication (we need to get back into that business...)
*They can become any of the 20,000 Protestant denominations in the US, most of whom will let anyone into the clergy.
*Become Pagan and allow the Earth Goddess to make them clergy. They even get to have cake and wine!

-_-

Gravatar Ed Peters,
You're my hero!

Gravatar thx for the kind words danny.

kim, i asked his mom, and she doesn't think there are any of that day. except in our hearts, that is.

Gravatar did I get to hold the flag?

Gravatar Ed, that story killed me!

Thanks for sharing it.

Ditto the previous commentators; many ECUSA members (and I would know!) are pretty sure the BCP mentions ordination as a "civil right." Somewhere in the back, I'll bet.

Gravatar These peps are horrible. I was with a bishop (attending the conference) a few years ago and coming out of his hotel.. these people were waiting out there and descended on us and started yelling at the Bishop about the War, man/boy love, you name it... it was crazy. The funniest part is some of these people are professional protesters, you will see them one week protesting coal energy and the next week across the country protesting nuclear energy. Organizations pay them to protest, they are usually the ones with huge signs and making a scene.

Gravatar "... can't you feel the pathos?"

Nope. Just the shame that she is from my home state, and mild relief that she isn't from my diocese (although it wouldn't have surprised me a bit).

Gravatar By the way, Peter Kreeft has an excellent talk online about women priests called "Priestesses." I think it is the finest I have heard. Just go to his website and look around.
