I bet the Islamic terrorists are tripping over themselves for the honour of assassinating the earthly head of the Christian Church.

All the more necessary for us to surround and protect the Holy Father with a mantle of prayer and consign him to the protection of Mary Immaculate.

Great suggestion, Thomas. The text of the prayer is great as well. Who composed it? If it was you, congratulations. I just suggest that the "XVI" be scrapped. Its a technicality, but Popes, emperors, kings, etc. are usually not numbered when reference is made to them in prayer.

The Holy Father, the late John Paul the Great had said that the church must and can only be redeemed with the blood of the martyrs. I fear that perhaps he meant that the prophecy of Fatima and St. Don Bosco may come to pass with this visit to Turkey. Pope Benedict vowed to NOT wear a bullet proof vest. The Third Secret of Fatima says the (bishop in white) dies in a hail of bullets and in the Dream of St Don Bosco he recounts that one Pope is shot down but his aids help him quickly up them he dies and a new pope is elected (perhaps Benedict) and then he is killed by his enemies, but as soon as he is killed while this news is getting out a new pope is quickly elected placing fear in his enemies. This new Pope safely guides the church between the two pilars, the Virgin Mary and the Most Holy Eucharist all the while the church is being attacked viciously.....there is much more to the dream. But God's will be done regardless! I too pray that Pope Benedict will be fearless in his undertaking.
