I love the fact Benedict "charged" that divorce and abortion are offenses to God. That is, to stay with the legal-eze, they are "alleged" offenses, but who can say what God finds offensive? Who dares put words in the mouth of God?

Wonderfully covert word choice. Even if the author happens to believe the pope's statement, the wording betrays the mark of anti-papist rhetoric, whether consciously or unconsciously adopted.
