AmericanPapist Comments

Gravatar That is his angel guardian, you poor little Vatican Two dude.

God bless you for being so open to adverse comment.

Try Pope Pius IX for a change.

Now there is a pope!

Gravatar Wuh...what/where/why/who/how IS that?!

Gravatar Ditto your "huh?".

Anyway, exactly who is in charge of arranging for ugly decor over there? He must be paid a king's ransom.

Gravatar That's one scary looking decoration. Whoever is in charge of decor ought to be sent to Parsons in New York so they can learn something.

Gravatar paddy the papist is setting himself up for a one-way ticket to the paddy wagon.

Gravatar Seriously, where is he and what is that?

Gravatar He's in the Paul VI audience hall in the Vatican, and that's some incredibly-ugly depiction of Christ.

Gravatar Oh. My. Goodness. I'm not sure if I should thank you for enlightening me or not :)

Gravatar [Cussing in the combox gets one warning, then a ban. Thanks. - AmP]

Gravatar That Christ looks to me like a dead body caught in a coral reef.

Gravatar wow, i hate to say it but that whole statue and purple light combo look really scary and creepy!

Gravatar If you want to see some churchs that look fairly similar go to Vegas where I live. At my parish (one of the most conservative) they have lights that change according to the liturgical season (during ordinary time it looks like OZ).
The cathedral has a rocket Christ, just like the one behind the Holy Father. Luckly the rocket Christ was recently taken out of our church (the one with the neon lights).
That's Sin City for you.

Gravatar "That's Sin City for you."

I wonder if it's because of the image of "Sin City" or simply because Las Vegas is becoming such a large metropolitan area. My brother and his family lives in Vegas, as well, and he and my sister-in-law are of the opinion that once you leave the Strip, Vegas is really no different than any other burgeoning city. I thought one of the parishes I've been to was alright, but my parents found it too liberal for their tastes so they drove down to the cathedral for weekday Mass. I'm certain that New York, Boston, Chicago, and other major cities have the same liberal parishes, so it's not really something unique to Sin City.

Gravatar i remembera post that read "the pope is okey but the _ (iforget that part) is doomed" ithink that is how it goes.
