As the Curt Jester pointed out, that could very well be a picture of St. Martin de Porres:

Looks like St. Martin de Porres to me. While it does bear a striking resemblance to Obama, I don't think his ears are goofy enough. Although, O guess it wouldn't be totally suprising for somebody to stick Obama's head on him.
The black scapular denotes he is a Dominican brother and he is commonly depicted with a broom. You can also see the Domini Canis (Dog of the Lord) associated with St. Dominic in the bottom right.

Although the face does look different...thinner, but we could give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it's the curve of the candle.
If it were really an extension of his messiah complex one would think he'd choose the sacred heart or something to that effect. Of course, St Martin is easier to alter to look like him. :P

On the one hand, it might trigger a new age of religious art.
On the other hand, please Lord not this kind of religious art.

Regardless of who it is, it is obviously MEANT to be BO, and that it is for sale in SF is just another example of the propensity of the weirdos in that city to mock all things Christian.

It's Obama AS St. Martin. Someone used an image of St. Martin as a starting point and drew Obama w/St. Martin's iconographic attributes.
But more to the point, it's some kind of lefty hipster take on Santaria. Which I think is a good description of Obama's whole campaign.

Offensive on many levels.
Pray people...pray, pray, pray.
Hell is spewing forth lies, confusion, despair.
Perform acts of mercy and do penance.
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host - by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Matt, exactly which Catholics are going to vote for a presidential candidate because they found a votive candle in his honor?

Ed, great hyperbole.
If the fair was at that intersection it should be noted that no less than 7 parishes are within a mile of the location. And to think that there aren't any practicing faithful Catholics in San Francisco is silly - calm down folks, this really is just a votive to St. Martin DePores.
Your overreaching belies way to much nervousness.

I'm a Dominican and a member of St Martin de Porres province, USA. This is NOT a St Martin votive candle. It's someone's sick idea of humor.
The day Obama becomes a Dominican is the day I become a Benedictine.

Ed, I was just joking...sort of.
There's no doubt a segment of the uninformed Catholic population looking for every validation that they can vote for BO in good conscience. So certainly something like this would play to that ridiculousness.
On the other hand, it's a candle. I think you can find a BO 'anything' right about now - especially since he has more money than he knows how to spend.
Personally, I think(pray) it is just a foreshadowing that Obama will be pushing a broom after the election instead of running our country.

The dog doesn't just represent Dominicans. In Hispanic countries, St. Martin de Porres has a much fuller image than our "he's black and fed the poor" one. There, besides being known for Extreme Miracleworking in front of witnesses (teleportation of large groups, bilocation, healing, the whole schmeer), part of his image is that he fed, cared for, and spoke with stray dogs, cats, and birds, as well as humans in need.
However, it's also worth mentioning that his brothers didn't leave him stuck him in a corner. He joined up initially as a lay aide; they had to strongarm him into becoming a brother. He also ended up in one of the big administrative jobs and founded an orphanage. All this didn't stop him from practicing extreme humility and obedience; but it does go to show that the "simple" saints aren't necessarily bad leaders if given a chance -- even in an "intellectual" order.
Finally, he's actually known more in South America for being a mixed race person, born illegitimate and with a complicated relationship with his family, than for being black per se.
It's kinda fascinating to see these cultural image differences.

I've been trying to fight the notion that Obama is the Antichrist, as that appeals to most "rapture" Evangelicals. However, based on how his campaign is being run, based on his philosophy, based on his praxis, based on the sheer numbers of Christians, especially Catholics, who have been convinced that he represents the most godly choice, is it safe to say that Obama wishes to be the Antichrist, making him an antichrist?
By the way, in the spirit of Beavis and Butthead... uh... huh huh... his initials are BO... uh... huh huh.

It's definitely Obama. It's also definitely just a candle - fairly funny and a little embarrassing for Obama to even be put in the same realm as ANY Catholic saint.
What ISN'T funny is that Obama could be our next president.
