Kidding aside, there are a number of Bostonians that are furious the pope isn't coming to visit. The "Hub-centric" mindset truly amazes me.

I'm in the archdiocese of Boston...I love Pope Benedict...we don't deserve him here. I'll happy go to Washington or NY to see him (hopefully!).

They missed the biggest one . . . "Is a Yankees Fan."
Notice where he's saying his public Mass? (Hint: Not Fenway Park)
Hey, when he appears in a pinstripe vestment . . . well, don't say I didn't warn you!

Denis, no doubt many of us Bostonians are disappointed, but I'd hardly describe the atmosphere as being marked by fury.

One's failure to perform a non-obligatory good can never be used as a basis for criticism. Boston needs to get over it.

Boston?! Who cares? I'm steamed that he's snubbing Kokomo.

I'm from the great and glorious Commonwealth myself, and I have to say that Bostonians and those of us in Massachusetts aren't enraged or in a fury that the Holy Father isn't coming to Boston.
I am disappointed that he's not, as I think it would be good for him to visit Boston; I think he'd bring a certain amount of healing along with him. Even if he never addressed the scandal, his presence would say more than the bishops have, which is next to nothing.

Ed, we don't need to get over anything. There aren't people wailing in the streets over this.
