Here in Detroit, we are just completing a two-day Midwest Catholic-Muslim Dialogue, sponsored by the USCCB and the Islamic Society of North America...now in its tenth year. We had no problem at all discussing the contents of the Islamic faith or our own Catholic faith, with much respect and reverence for the beliefs of each other. Wouldn't it be a nice idea for the Vatican to put someone in positions of authority who actually knew something about the job they have assumed?

I believe dialogue in America is atypical of dialogue possible in most Muslim countries. Certainly situations of tolerance are better here than vice versa in many middle-eastern countries, I think it's fair to claim.
