When Pope Benedict announced the firing of the entire Vatican domestic staff (whose had left clutter from last week's meeting on his presentors' table), the assembly rose in a standing ovation that lasted 10 minutes.

Michael,
lay off. stop with the personal trash-talk. It's not so attractive for someone with a MA in theology.
If you're so angry about someone putting forth such effort on an individual blog and not doing it the way you want or tackling the topics you want to argue about, go start your own blog.
Go take a run and burn off all that anger. Do it in the name of love, huh?

Bridgid, I'm sure you mean well. But this is not trash talk - far from it. If you think it is, set out your reasons and don't beg your own questions. As far as taking a run is concerned, I workout every day and I'm in great shape. Running is bad for the knees. Thanks for the suggestion though. And, yes, alot of the current Church makes me angry. Doesn't Curial hypocrisy and the abuse of children by clergy and the failure of the institutional Church to protect children make you angry? This is as good a place as any to vent. Why don't you go for a run and clear your mind , , ,
I don't want to start my own blog. If people want to throw their thoughts out into the universe on a blog it seems to me they then invite whatever comes back (particularly if it's reasonable).

Hey Mike:
Wheni converted, i promised to accept ALL that the Catholic church teaches. Not to cherry pick, and disingeuously twist teachings to make what ever I want OK, or to take scandals as opportunity to refound Christ's church in my image.
I'm sorry you're angry, and I realize that your sexuality is forbidden by the law of God. But gueass what--so's mine, and the struggle it presents is a great blessing, even though it's quite difficult.
Perhaps it's presumptuous for a non-dergeed person to address this to a Master of Theology, but you could maybe re-read the Catechism, and apply it to your own worldview.
I hope you will rethink charity and take a look at your post.
Pray for me, I'll pray for you, and we'll both be better to recognize differences as being in the body of Christ, without hating each other.

Michael,
Wow... I really have no idea what Church you are talking about.... or what Gospels for that matter. Is it something that you had to come up with for your thesis in order to get the Master in Theology?
Also, you have a very erroneous idea regarding councils, encyclicals, Church teachings, the Gospels, morals... so, I wonder... WHERE did you get your Master of Theology?? You should go back...

At Mass today Father gave a great homily on the four marks of the Church made visible to the world for at Pentecost and explained how each of these marks (One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic) are manifestations of charity. I pray that today, on this Feast of Pentecost, we would each do our part to make the Mystical Body of Christ visible to all through the practice of charity.
I like the picture by the way. :-)

Hey Michael, You are a perfect son of dissenting formation. These people were the "in" things in the 70's so I assume your professors were trained in that era.
I think you said you were from Toronto, Canada. Yes, I know the seminaries in Ontario, Canada very well since that's where I am. I have been in the M.Div. program over the past 3years so I am familiar with your dissenter-like lingo.
Everyone, Michael is our representative of Canadian seminaries.....this is the pseudo-parallel Catholic Church alive and well here. Please pray for us.

Yes, please pray for us, however let us keep the comments charitable. In all things charity my friends. Also, by making such comments you are detracting from the character of many devout young faithful Catholic seminarians across Canada.

DilexitPrior, My comments are not detracting from nor uncharitable to young seminarians in Canada. I have not mentioned any other seminarians, only the seminaries. As I said I have been in the Master of Divinity program at the seminary within the past 3years and I have contact with others across Canada. ALL but one seminary, the Oratory in Toronto are run by dissenters with maybe a few good, orthodox Catholic professors who suffer much persecution. That's not detraction that is a fact.
So please I know you mean well however let's not be afraid to call dissent and those who follow it by their colours. Maybe Jesus was uncharitable when he called the Pharisees a brood of vipers...that's even strong language for me! I am a very straight forward person in all charity but I don't have time for mixing of words...too many souls to help save.

Michael, I think that your posts are overblown and exaggerated. Stop using the issue of the sex abuse scandal as cover for your anti-church anti-papal agenda. May God remove the filth and gunk out your heart you anti-catholic bigot.

I'd disagree. There is an orthodox seminary in BC run by Benedictines.
