It truly is a profound statement when the pope dons the carpets from his papal apartments. Three cheers for traditionalism!

Anonymous, when I see deacons vested in the dalmatic, my little heart goes pitter-pat.
And I don't feel any need to roust out progressive blogs to make snarky remarks about tie-dyed tablecloths, either.

. . . isn't the color for advent Purple?
Call me crazy, but the Holy Father appears to be wearing maroon and gold . . .
Is he trying to show support for the Boston College Eagles, on the brink of a BCS bowl?

As a 30 year old, Pope John Paul II was the only pope, who I had ever known. His loss seemed more profound with the time and space to reflect upon it, and how he boldly proclaimed the Gospel in his words and actions, throughout his vibrant papacy, and in his Christian witness as he endured health problems. As Thanksgiving has just passed in the States, I am so grateful to God for Pope Benedict XVI, and his witness to the truth of Christ and His Church. I feel blessed to have such a kind pastor leading the flock of Christ's Church, and have found great solace in the truth that he speaks in his actions as well as in his speeches and books. For all of the turmoil in this world that is a part of the human condition, I feel blessed to have been raised in the Roman Catholic Christian faith, and to have such a wonderful Vicar of Christ.

My sentiments exactly! May Our Holy Father have many years with us! Incidentally, the liturgical color purple is good for both Advent and Lent!
