People are getting desperate, and let's face it, a rain dance is [retty tempting. The way it stands, why not a face off between the American Indians and a "prayer sing", which is popular in Southern churches? Whoever makes it rain, we all win!

What? I thought the Archbishop was asking us to pray for rain because of the FIRES on the West Coast. I think they at least need to share in the intentions! Our local newspaper is carrying a banner headline tonight - CAN'T STOP IT!
Pray to the God of rain for water in all the right places.

I grew up in a rural town in Kansas. From March to October, we always prayed for rain in the general intentions. I hope it pours where it's needed!

I've always liked Abp. Gregory. Even when the clergy sexual abuse came home to roost on his USCCB watch (some of his comments thereon I criticized) I always thought he was trying to do his job as best he knew how. I'm not surprised he calls forth a powerful prayer from Church's treasury of prayer to face a current problem. I suspect he does this on his own all the time.

"If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
