Thomas, you were a student at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, right?
I have a question, do you know if a layman can enroll at Sacred Heart as an undergraduate student? Their Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy program looks really interesting to me...
Thanks! -Aleksander

Yes, a-dawg, an undergrad lay student may enroll. And many have enrolled for the MA in Theo, etc.

You ought to read the recent CNS statement on the Right to Life march. They referred to us as "anti-abortionists," not as pro-lifers.
I even called their offices, and a woman said, "well, they did use both words 'pro-lifers and anti-abortionists.'"
Isn't CNS an arm of the USCCB? Why do the bishops hire people who obviously want to use the same negative stereotypes of pro-lifers as the secluar media?

Thomas, are there any real estimates on how many people were there?
The secular media says, "tens of thousands". It looked like a lot more than that on EWTN.
It wasn't exactly news as far as I could see. In the channels I watched, I didn't see any mention of it. Censorship is alive and well.
I've seen smaller crowds, like a handful of people, make the news.
How often is the National Basilica that crowded? That's not news?

Thomas, thank you so much for the pictures and video! At some points my husband and I must have been just a few feet away from you - we are thrid order Dominicans from St. Mary's Chapter in New Haven, CT, (where Father McGiveny is interred). We spent several hours under the Dominican Friar banner and later marched with a group from Norwalk, CT. We ended the night with the Rose Dinner at the Hyatt - Raymond Arroyo was at his absolute best and got a standing ovation!
We went to Eucharistic Adoration in the Crypt under the Basilica the night before the March and were amazed at the huge number of people camping out - there were sleeping bags everywhere! I wonder how often THAT happens at the Basilica! And the Dominicans did a great job clsoing the Adoration with Morning Prayer and Benediction.
Thanks especially for the rainbow picture!

Thomas I know you can't be everywhere but the morning Youth Rally and 10 o'clock Mass at the Verizon Center was packed -- about 25,000 youth and adults from all over the country. The Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Sambi read a message from the Holy Father, and in addition to Archbishop Weurl there were about 4 cardinals, 15-20 bishops and 400 priests. It was a wonderful, exciting and holy event.

Hey, I remember you taking this picture, but I didn't know it was the American Papist! Thanks! I'm a frequent reader. Feel free to check out my blog sometime.
I'm the guy holding the "stop abortion now" sign in between the two poles on the left.

Thom, thanks for all of the links at the bottom of this post. I did notice, however, that the New York Times link is to a 2007 article! I couldn't search and find a newer one. Anyone?
