Gravatar Now, that is what I call being good shepherds. Hooray for our Bishops and all those clergy who have stood up to explain what the Church really teaches. I hope everyone is listening! And I hope Pelosi realizes that now she can open mouth and remove foot.

Gravatar Thomas, you were cited by LifeSiteNews: http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/...g/ 08082706.html

Gravatar Eight out of 190 ordinaries plus who-knows how many auxiliaries ain't bad, I guess.

I suppose most are letting the USCCB speak for them. As the diocesan papers come out, there may be more.

Can't wait until September 5.

On September 1, Bp Sheridan will be giving the commencement address at Wyoming Catholic College. Maybe he'll say more.

Gravatar Ooops, I meant the CONVOCATION Homily.

No one has graduated from there yet, it's too new. And not in September anyway.

Gravatar Thomas, you also got a mention on "the http://blackbiretta.blogspot.com/Black Biretta"
Fr Trujilio liked your Becket video.

Gravatar Bishop Farrell of Dallas copied the USCCB and included a short statement of his own:

http://www.cathdal.org/default.a...d=137& newsid=32

“I very much respect House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s right to speak to public policy. However, interpreting the teachings of the Church is not in her domain but is entrusted to our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI and to the bishops who are in communion with him. The Catholic Church from the beginning of time has condemned abortion as immoral and contrary to the laws of God.”

Gravatar Perhaps Nancy thinks she can break the biggest glass ceiling and become Pope Pelosi I.

Gravatar This sounds like a job for Curt Jester: Putting a fake mitre on Pelosi's head when she's at her worst.

Gravatar His excellency of San Francisco had the gauntlet thrown in his face when Pelosi stated in her region of the country she didn't have a problem receiving communion. His response so far has been to wait a week???? I hope it is worth the wait but worry that the time for teaching will already have passed.

Gravatar Festina lente.

Gravatar I certainly don't mean to harp, but it's Bishop Conley, not Conlon. No biggie, though. We're all prone to typos, especially when we're typing a lot. :)

Gravatar Actually, I think the delay in Neiderauer's response will serve quite well, so long as it is a solid response.

In the meantime, Nancy has ample time to reflect, reconsider or (God forbid) reassert her idiotic claims.

Gravatar When is someone going to call out Michael Sean Winters at America Magazine for his ridiculous assertions (http://tinyurl.com/55tl5d) about the Democrat's platform proving a difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion. I wish that one of our Bishops would address these lies as eloquently as they addressed the errors made by Biden and Pelosi.

Gravatar I agree with Kelly (and others). The Archbishop of San Fran had the gauntlet thrown in his face when Pelosi said "it's a regional thing" and she receives communion frequently. If that isn't a challenge, even if not intended, I don't know what is.

I look forward to what he has to say on September 5th, but I share the concern that the teaching moment may have passed. What I am especially anxious to see, is if Archbishop Niederauer will address her comment about receiving communion frequently. Alas, my gut feeling is no.

Addressing her reception of communion would be too much of a direct confrontation, and could turn this teaching moment into an ugly mud slinging contest. Perhaps dealing with this matter in private is a wise move on the part of a Bishop.

If Pelosi gets called on the carpet in that way (as in she shouldn't receive communion), what about the other Catholic politicians who voice the same opinion? And one of them is a VP candidate. This could go very bad very quickly, but maybe it needs to. Perhaps it's time the issue of receiving communion by pro-abortion politicians is met head on. It's the pink elephant in the room that is conveniently ignored.

Gravatar 8 out of how many USA bishops?

Isn't this a matter of whether or not her Ordinary will excommunicate her?

This is his call.

Or, if necessary, the CDF; or the Pope.

Gravatar I'm waiting to see if my bishop says anything in the weekly diocesan paper tomorrow. There is nothing the Paterson Diocese's website (my home diocese) or on the Archdiocese of Newark's website. There's nothing on the NJ dioceses' websites. At least our neighbor Cardinal Egan said something.

Gravatar The archbishop expects people to wait just like socialized medicine in my home country of Canada does!

Gravatar +

Archbishop Nienstedt :) has spoken (official press release):

http://www.archspm.org/

Gravatar Bishop Murphy of Rockville Centre (Long Island) NY has a clear condemnatory article in today's issue of the Long Island Catholic. He also reprints the USCCB's statement.

Gravatar Yay for our Bishops!

I really think it is time to excommunicate her before she leads some people astray.

Gravatar The link to Bishop Slattery of Tulsa shows a letter from Congressmen Sullivan to Pelosi - mislinked p'haps?

Gravatar Anything from Abp. Alexander Brunnett of Seattle?

Gravatar Add Bishop Vasa, Diocese of Baker, Oregon to the list:

http://www.sentinel.org/node/9396

Gravatar Add Bishop Jerome Listecki of La Crosse, WI to the list! He released a press statement on August 28 (feast of St. Augustine) which I read at all of my Masses the following weekend.

Gravatar Bishop Burbidge of Raleigh

Gravatar Bishop Vasa and Baker are in Oregon. If only someone in CA would say SOMETHING.

Gravatar Bishop Rhoades of Harrisburg also has a statement on the web-site for the diocese regarding Pelosi.

Gravatar From the Diocese of Tulsa: our Bishop's name is Edward James Slattery. Please correct both entries. Thank you.

Gravatar I wish Bishop Boyea of the diocese of Lansing, MI, would grow a pair of testicles and deny Gov. Jennifer Granholm the Eucharist. Stand up for the truth or sit down. I respect the office but not the man.

Gravatar Thanks for all your work. I have put a link to this page on my side bar.
So far, the only thing in MS is a reprint of the USCCB's response. We didn't expect anything tho.

Gravatar Please add to the list the Bishop of the Diocese of Lake Charles, His Excellency The Most Reverend Glen John Provost. He wrote an article on the local newspaper "The American Press" on Sunday, August 31st, as a response to the Nancy Pelosi controversy. The title of the article was "Catholic Church Clear on When Human Life Begins." It was on the Sunday Talk section of the paper.

Here's a link to the article:

http://epaper.americanpress.com/...ish-skin- custom

Thank you.

Gravatar Hey, Tom. Edward Slattery of Tulsa is on there twice, though you have Edward Slatter on number 13 and James Slattery on number 16. His names is Edward James Slattery.

Gravatar Ominous defeaning silence from California bishops....

Gravatar FYI - Number 13 and 16 are the same bishop with mangled names.

Gravatar As Jake mentioned, the Bishop of Raleigh is the Most Rev. Michael F. Burbidge. See, e.g., catholic-hierarchy.org.

Gravatar Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, Diocese of Brooklyn:
http:// www.dioceseofbrooklyn.org...Candidates.html

Gravatar Archbishop Naumann of KCK not only wrote his joint letter on voting with Bishop Finn of KCMO, but in his article within the diocesan newspaper The Leaven he spoke specifically on Pelosi.

Good Job on reporting this issue!

Gravatar Re: your link to the response of Bishop Paul Coakley of Salina, KS, to Senator Biden... that document refers to both Pelosi and Biden, so methinks that makes 27 responses to Pelosi, yes?
