you can see that they've linked to the article with the following text: "Christ Herlinger '93 interviews Union students..."
So in this case, we don't just have a bad choice of interview subjects, we actually have an alumnus of the liberal non-Catholic seminary going back to his alma mater for CNS. Something tells me they should do a better job hiring their stringers.
Perhaps they should have invited editors of Catholic news organizations to the talk the Holy Father gave to presidents of Catholic universities, too.

Forgive my frank disagreement with the sentiment of this post Thomas, but what is wrong with doing a piece for a Catholic news organization about those who recently became or recently ceased to be Catholic? I personally am interested to see what the sentiments are of those who may not know what they are talking about, as all of us should be. The one thing that I can fault the lot of us for is the occasional haughtiness that comes with a thorough defense and understanding of the faith. Let's try and keep in mind that we aren't going to win any more souls for Christ if all we've got to say is vitriolic and reactionary. I would think after a week of witnessing Benedict's pastoral and pedagogical approach that orthodox Catholics would try better to shun this sort of quick-witted, "black helicopters are out to get me" response to an otherwise responsible news piece. Chill out people!
He's an alum of the place. Maybe he couldn't get an interview anywhere else....
Fair burn. I'm just saying . . . It's not like CNS is America mag. and this is all they run.
