Gravatar Is he related to Fr. (Mark?) Knestout? I know that Knestout works for the Bishops' Office in some capacity, and he celebrates Mass at the Cathedral.

Gravatar yes, brothers i believe.

Gravatar They are, indeed, brothers. Fr. Knestout spoke about his brother this morning at the 7 am Mass in the Cathedral. Their father is a deacon as well.

Gravatar Nice family business. Congrats to our new prelate. Youth is good- clearly ordained in the JP Era- great sign.

Gravatar I should revise the comment above. Their father was also ordained a deacon. He passed away in 1997.

Gravatar Perhaps he should now be called "Knest - in!"

;-)

Gravatar This is the same Knestout that sent out a letter last Sunday asking us to contribute to the CCHD. No thanks.

Gravatar nice... i might get to see an ordination mass on my birthday :-)

Gravatar How exciting for our diocese! I'm always very hopeful when younger priests are made bishops - especially ones who go to a strong seminary like Mount St. Mary's. Although I admit it is getting a bit disconcerting to see that I am getting closer and closer to the age of some of our bishops. :)

Holy Mary, pray for bishop-elect Knestout!

Gravatar They are brothers, and according to the Bishop-elect, when I spent a day with him in 2006, their father was a strong influence of Mark & he. Their father, formerly in charge of the Diaconate Program at ADW has passed away incidentally.
Mark is the Director of Liturgy for ADW.

Gravatar Bishop Knestout will certainly be regarded as a "pastoral" bishop. As a priest and as Secretary to Archdiocesan Bishops he has always been regarded as warm, approachable and kind to those he encounters. He is a model Servant of Christ to our Catholic community.
