We have several men, including a dear friend of our family, being ordained for the permanent diaconate May 19th at St. Thomas Aquinas parish in East Lansing (due to road construction around St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown Lansing). Last I heard, they were seeking another bishop to come in for the ordinations.

one of the auxiliaries from detroit would make sense for that. I think it's about time Bp. Flores got some chrism on his hands that wasn't for a confirmation. :)

I think I heard that we're getting either a bishop from K-zoo or GR to do the ordinations...
I volunteer at the Diocese, and heard yesterday that May 25 is the 50th anniversary of Bishop Mengeling's priestly ordination. Hwow!
AmPapist, when I read your line "it would seem to me that with such a diagnosis and an extended time period being allotted for recovery, the appointment of Bp. Mengeling's successor would be accelerated, especially since he is already well past his retirement date...", the first thing that popped into my head was "Please let it be Bishop Campbell!" (priest from ArchD St. Paul / Mpls, now Bishop of Columbus, OH)
We shall see...! :)
