I'm certainly glad the Lord doesn't have a counter visible to us while he's waiting for US to turn some things around in our life.

I found the counter thing a bit 'holier than thou.'

It's not counting the time until she "turns things around", only the time until she does something that she said publicly she would do (meet with the Archbishop). It would, of course, be inappropriate to put a clock, or even a calendar, on whatever "turning around" (conversion) might follow the meeting.
