Rockin' Ska!!
Zap!

Gravatar "He taught me how to pray and how to save my soul"
errrmmm? by extension you could assume that means "he taught me how to save my soul". deep theological problems with that line, eh?

Also, "He taught me how to praise my God and still play rock and roll." I'd like to hear him playing some rock and roll because whatever style this is, it ain't working for him.

Seriously though, this is funny stuff.

Gravatar any yes...the ZZZZAP line is awesome. All I can think is "Rowsdower" whenever I hear "zap."

Gravatar Cheesy, but I'll bet in twenty years people will be laughing at the pop-Christian dreck we have now. Not even heavy metal is immune to the Christian cheese factor! Witness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U...h? v=UI8ylsHKIMg

Gravatar People are already laughing at the pop-Christian dreck we have now, no need to wait 20 years.

True, then again, the last person to realize the siliness of the Member's Only jacket is the guy wearing it. :)

Gravatar I love it!!!

Unashamed Christians!

Finola

Gravatar it's so perfectly "friday", imo.

Gravatar I think I heard this song at church last weekend.

Gravatar This makes my local tambourine Mass look positively reverent!

Gravatar The vests are cute. But I think the song is about his friend Speedy Jesus Reviera-Gonzoles,not THE JESUS, but I could be wrong about that.

Gravatar Is that Mitt Romney singing?

Gravatar Scott W.- Wow, I remember this group from the good ol' 80's. I will say that their Christianized metal is far more easy to stomach than AmP's example for this posting.:D
God bless 'em all (Christian musicians). They're trying their best to offer an alternative to much of the stuff that's out there now. I think Matt Maher is the best-IMO. He and his band write very radio worthy tunes, secular or Christian!

Gravatar The problem in music like this isn't necessarily the statement that "Jesus is my friend," it's that the style shows that he is a little friend, like the M&Ms in their commercials.
To these guys, Jesus is some cute mascot that fits in my pocket and gives me hugs. Come on. We can do better than that with the Son of God.

Hear hear. This is something I have been harping on for years. Yes, I'll grant the intentions are sincere and heart-felt, but while music is highly subjective, there is an objective component to it. That is, when one gobbles up commerical music sensibilities and applies is to the Faith, it turns into one disposable commodity among thousands with the net result being trivialization.
