Well, it is a catchy line. I can't stand that stuff anyway; I would think "food for the soul" would be more natural stuff, like fruit. Deep-fried, blegh!
They're pretty awesome. You can make them at home: take a twinkie and make a simple batter (pancake batter is a good simple fit). Heat about an 1" of oil on your stove to medium-high heat. When you flick a bit of water in the oil, it should pop-- but not so hot that it smokes. Run the twinkie in the batter and slip it into the oil, when the batter gets brown, turn the twinkie over. USE TONGS! When its fried all around, let it drain quickly, top with whipped cream and maybe some mascerated strawberries.
They're pretty awesome, all in all.
I think I'll stick with Theology on Tap. Deep Fried Twinkies, Oreos, Snickers, and the like just make my stomach turn. Give me a good brew (ideally Trappist) and some deep theology anyday.

I don't know about "food for the sould," but as a southerner I can tell you that deep frying is the heart of soulfood.
I don't quite understand if you have a problem with the theology on a stick idea or are just poking fun.. I actually go to the St Paul Cathedral and have helped sponser this event, it's basically theology on tap, only open to all ages. I'm really quite excited to attend several talks, they have some excelent topics selected.
The "on a stick" is a MN joke, every year the State Fair introduces new food on a stick.. this year it's foot long pizza on a stick.. new also is chocolate covered bacon... yum?
Anon - just poking fun. I can't even begin to think of a valid reason to dislike such a concept purely based on it's name! :)
