Fasting, in sackcloth and ashes...with alittle bit of prayer on the side.

Gravatar Playoff Baseball. Phillies jumped out of NLCS with strong start- 2 HRs in 6th inning to knock out Dodger ace Derek Lowe 3-2. Very little productivity in our region this noon-game 2 starts at 4:35 P.M. Game 3- Sunday night in El Lay. Oh- and monster college football Saturday- Texas-Oklahoma, Florida-LSU, Mizzou-Okie State, Georgia-Tennessee, Penn State-Wisconsin. An improving Notre Dame sees how far it's gone against improving North Carolina in Chapel Hill as well. Life's too short. Relax. Pray. Go to Sunday Mass. Enjoy sports, life, loved ones. Go Phils.

Gravatar It's not a three-day weekend unless you work for the US government.

Gravatar 3 day weekend? What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?

Gravatar Its columbus day and some lucky people get Monday off. I on the other hand have to work :-(

Gravatar "...blogging around the circumference."

Actually, what else could one do vis a vis a circumference?

Gravatar I'm going to mass with my family. Then a 5 mile hike in the woods with my husband, my 4 kids and my oldest son's cub scout troop. Later apple cider and donuts. Weather repot 70 and sunny. The perfect day!

Gravatar Assumption Grotto has their one and only fall Benefit Dinner this Sunday.

BTW - for anyone local to Detroit, I'm told that Fr. Perrone will be doing the Durufle Requiem on November 2. I believe it is at the 9:30. I'll try to find out and post it on my blog this week. I'm not sure if he can do the TLM that day - it may be a Latin Novus Ordo.

Gravatar You are so blessed Dianne! Do you pinch yourself everyday?

Gravatar Just saw the musical, Altar Boyz, at the Bethesda Theatre. It was fabulous! I totally recommend it to any youngish practicing Catholic. Some people could find some things kind of offensive, but this sometimes TLM-goer still found it very entertaining and enjoyable.

Gravatar Father - "fall off." ;)

Gravatar I don't know if anyone is reading this far down anymore or not, but I have a magnificent weekend.

I ran the Bioethics Conference here on campus. This is our 3rd Conference and it is highly academic. Doctors of Philosophy and Medicine and Nurses-all talking to each other about various moral situations that come up in the Health care world. Dr. Patrick Lee is the Director of the Bioethics Institute on campus and it was a delight to work for him.

Included were folks like Dr. Joseph Boyle (he and Lee could be called the "intellectual sons" of Germaine Grisez. Brilliant, both of them), Dr. Maureen Condic, Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy at the Uof Utah, and the Most Rev. Anthony Fisher, OP, Aux Bishop of Sydney, Australia (under Cardinal Pell) who, besides having several letters behind his name, is the Episcopal Vicar for Life and Health, was the foundation director for the JP II Institute for Marriage and Family and most recently added to his resume' that he ran World Youth Day. And he is only 48. Oh, did I mention how humble and delightful he is too? He was a joy to serve and someone I'll be keeping an eye on. Brilliant, all of them.
