"And I still haven't seen a tornado."
And you don't want to.

irishgirl,
When Mother Nature's feeling sad, no place is safe from her sorrow. I speak from experience. ;-)

Bill, I have a hunch you're not from the Plains. We go out on to the porch to look for it when the sirens go off. :)

Of course, that's not to say tornadoes are something to take lightly. It's just that if you're smart, you yourself should be able to avoid physical harm and behold the most breathtaking phenomenon in nature. And when a town or neighborhood unfortunately gets hit, the good people of the Plains load their tools into their trucks and go help with the recovery. If any of you have the time, check the aerial photos of Greensburg, Kansas, that got hit by an F-5 last May. They will drop your jaw.

Just to point out the level of mayhem caused by the sequence of storms that flooded AmP's apartment, as of Friday night, almost 60 hrs after the deluge began, there are still over 20k people in the DC region without power. Or so says the local ABC affiliate. Chin up Tom, at least your cleanup is one-man-jobbable. Still stinks though.
