I just finished reading Joseph Pearce's C. S. Lewis and the Catholic Church. It was a terrific book. One point, though: apparently in 2002 Abp. Williams became...a Druid.

What did Pearce conclude, if anything, about Lewis and the current state of Anglicanism?
The only conclusion I can draw is that Lewis would finally have overcome his prejudice ("You wouldn't understand. You weren't born in Belfast.") and entered ito full Communion in light of what has happened to the CoE in the past few decades.
I thought Archdruid was just a jest term used (sorta like the jesting terms some Protestants have for Catholics).

In 2002, Rowan Williams joined the Gorsedd of the Bards, an organization which is basically about celebrating Welsh language and literature—to which, as a Welshman, Dr. Williams has himself contributed. It really isn't about paganism.
“Archdruid” really is pretty much a jest term. Even Dr. Williams' (many) critics almost always accuse him of waffling on discipline. Doctrinal criticisms of the man are comparatively quite rare.

When will the farce stop? Rowan Williams in another soutane outfit that is a strange-looking outfit, that I don't think he hardly wears when in the UK. But in Rome he tries to look like a Catholic bishop. Well, the fact is he is not a bishop in line of apostolic succession and its about time this fantasy ended and we just stopped trying to make out that it is a fact. The Anglican Church is a breakaway faction that does not preach the true faith and is a scandal to all. I am still amazed that Rome gives him time in public with the successor of Peter. It really is a waste of time and the attempt at spiritual legitimacy is truly scandalous. Adam.
