Gravatar BTW I believe said person is Jesuit-theology trained. Who'd have thunk it...

Gravatar Yes, Weston, to be specific.

Gravatar Ouch, unnecessarily harsh Jesuit-bashing.

Gravatar I know a number of very good Jesuits. I just also happen to have been educated by a number of very awful ones who enjoyed committing liturgical abuses with abandon.

Gravatar I wonder if we could sue them for false advertising. They should be called "Catholics in Name Only United". I try to avoid their website as much as possible.

After listening to what Scott Hahn said on EWTN Live about St. Paul & what his take on giving Pro-abort politicians Communion would be, it looks like St Paul would fit into Chris Korzen's definition of extremist. But when you claim your leftist views are the center then everything else becomes extremist.

Gravatar The biggest pity is that their name is so close to a solid, orthodox group by the name of Catholics United for the Faith - http://www.cuf.org/

Gravatar Something that troubles me a great deal:

If the Church actually believes what she teaches, then why aren't Bishops the most vocal abortion fighters around?

Judging from their silence...

Gravatar LCB, I hear ya. But not all bishops are so silent.

Denver Archbishop Charles Chaput speaks and writes about the responsibilities of Catholics in public life, and makes no bones about the fact that abortion is EVIL.

Check out his August 20 column at archden.org (Archbishop's Corner -> Newspaper Columns). Read his new book "Render Unto Caesar".

And if you're in Denver this Monday between 7:30-9:00pm, please join Archbishop Chaput and others at MLK Park for a prayer vigil that will process to the new Planned Parenthood facility.

God bless him, and all who speak out to defend the innocents!

Gravatar With regard to Bishop Chaput, Kathryn Jean Lopez reports on National Review's Corner the answer that the Bishop gave her regarding politicians and abortion. . . here's a sample of the Bishop's response:

"Faithful Catholics want to live their faith fully — and one of the principles of Catholic social teaching is that we can never deliberately kill innocent human life. Abortion always, deliberately kills an innocent unborn child. Nobody can honestly claim to be a faithful Catholic and then support a false “right” to abortion; it’s just an elegant way of evading the brutality of what abortion actually does."

Pretty good stuff . . . wonder whether it will bleed into the legacy media?

Gravatar There are some people that I really don't want to unite myself with.

Gravatar A tad bit off the direct topic but I saw a bumper sticker today that said "Choice: A Beautiful Right". Wow talk about extreme.

Gravatar I am sure the unborn would be comforted to know they are a "partisan wedge."

Gravatar thanks for this, thom. very informative.
