I think there is some truth to it. Without even consuming information and interacting with other people through physical means, our whole concept of the world can retreat from the real and spiral into the imaginary.
Simply put, physical stuff grounds our experience in a meaningful reality. And that meaning will evaporate with 'digital decadence.'

It'll only get worse. Static news pages and choppy videos are just the tip of the iceberg. Imagine having the news beamed straight into our brains (or worse, into our minds). Or maybe the future news will be holographs. At the very least, news in the future will be broadcast in 3D.
