Knights groups have long been about social status and not religion. It's grown men playing club house.

I, sincerely, hope this disgraceful appointment will become a major issue (read: thorn) in Mrs. Clinton's side during her political run.

Trying hard to get back to the Church, but the more I read, the more I begin to realize the Church is lost at sea. Nothing will be done, McAuliffe will be "honored" and another assault will cast against the Church and another day will pass. This while bishops authorize Halloween Masses and priests teach words contrary to the Church, and his holiness sits scared to say anything because of the wounds he feels he opened when he spoke about Islam. Jesus didn't care if he hurt feelings, the Church should recognize it.

Are we certain it's to the real SMOM, and not one of the Protty/Schizzy groups that make use of all the same insignia, etc.?

What brought it to my mind was McAuliffe's invitation to HH to come join. I wasn't under the impression that Hewitt was a Catholic.
There's a Masonic group that claims to be Knights of Malta, several "ecumenical" goups that claim to be KoM, etc.
That's not to say it couldn't happen. I'm just not certain I'll believe a proven deceiver's offhand boasts from a radio show with a presumably hostile hostile. It doesn't smell right.

There are several bogus orders out there claiming to be the Sovereign Military order of Malta. Are you sure you are talking about the legitimate one, several members of which are also amongst those who serve as "Gentlemen of His Holiness", and as such were pallbearers in the funeral of the late Pope?

Hewitt's not Catholic, but he's more Catholic than some who claim to be.

If this is true, it would be the best evidence to young pregnant girls that the Church is not really serious about abortion, it's a venial sin perhaps. If the Church no longer speaks, una voce, on this issue, we're lost. We're just a larger version of the Episcopal Church. Tom

TJM,
Do you know many girls who are young, pregnant, AND care what the Church thinks or teaches?

Monsieur Flambeaux, Yes, as one of us who live in the real, not theoretical world, I do. I think it's extremely important that the Church either toss out fake Catholics like McAuliffe very publicly as an indication that the Church REALLY takes its teachings seriously or toss this teaching out so young girls are no longer victims of a hypocritical structure which is all talk and no show. As a side benefit, then the Church can be part of the highest value of all, being "inclusive" and much loved by The New York Times. I simply cannot understand "Neville Chamberlain" Catholics, never will, but perhaps you can. Tom

It would appear from the update that you were hasty in your criticism of the Knights. Surprise, surprise.

Thomas, if my coverage is so dissapointing you are more than welcome to dispense yourself of the annoyance. I wouldn't want to risk frittering away your valuable time.
I know several knights of Malta. They had no problem with my post.

At least the story has a good ending. Every time one of these stories emerge, you hope that the organization or the person takes the right step. It appears that the just decision was made.

I was talking to TJM, so now would be a good time to simmer down, AP.

My apologies, unless a poster is addressed by name the presumption is that the comment is referring to the main post. Perhaps as you noticed my tolerance for (as I see it) unjustified criticism has worn a bit thin lately. :)

Thomas, how could you be responding to me? I didn't even comment on the Knights of Malta? Sounds like you were criticizing AP to me. Tom
